Food Log: Intro
Eat to Live or Live to Eat?
Well, there's no right or wrong answer. But we are sitting on the fence and therefore we subscribe to a 60/40 rule.
Here's our theory*:
We adopt the mindset of 'Eat to Live' for 60% of the week ≈ 4 out of 7 days. The majority consists of our dull simple work day lunches that mainly serve the purpose of keeping us fuelled for the next half of the day. On the other end of the spectrum, we adopt the latter mindset for 40% of our week. It includes our occasional yet routine dates where we have lunch/dinner together as well as casual dine-out sessions with our family and friends.
*Home-cooked meals are not included.
That said, Food definitely plays an important role in our lives but it is essential for us to strike a balance between our wants and our needs.
And so, welcome to our first Food Log!
(There will be no more lengthy intros for our subsequent Food Logs. I promise.)
These are back logs from 2018-present. It comprises of places that are fairly priced in terms of food quality and costs (in our opinion) OR places that we have revisited a couple of times & they are listed in no particular order.
I think that's enough food porn for the day. Of course that's not all, we will continue on from #6 for future Food Logs. We hope that we have successfully made you hungry so go grab some food!
Till next time!

#1 CƠMNAM - Vietnamese Street Eats
★ 4.5/5
Firstly, we love dining here! There's a moderate amount of human traffic and the food is comparable to the market stalls found in HCMC, Vietnam. Just a pity that the authentic comnam (broken rice) was not found here :(
#2 Chimi's
★ 3.5/5
One of our must-go Mexican food restaurant/bar! We love the Baby Chimichangas, basically deep fried burrito. Tip: Take a stroll around the bay area. This will help you feel less sinful after pigging out and having a drink or two.
#3 Rakki Bowl
★ 3/5
One of the more affordable dons out there that has decent quality and huge portions (Thanks to Burpple Beyond). For the less wallet friendly version, try Waa Cow!, we went there once and have yet to embark on our next visit.
#4 Yardbird Southern Table & Bar
★ 4/5
This is on the pricey end but we are still giving it a 4 because it is quite worth it for its price and quality. One thing to note - we will go back for their fried chicken but will give the burger a miss.
#5 Hao Kee Seafood Deluxe
★ 4/5
Not the cheapest zi char stall you can find out there but their burnt beehoon is legit. Their signature tofu (招牌豆腐) is heavenly too. Please note that the ratings are solely based on the food we tried. There was once where I mistook their minced meat tofu as their signature tofu and that was quite a bummer.
